Practice #2

Scene: Track Field. Thursday. April 30th, 2009. Cool weather. Dry. 4:25... some kids gone. Not all.

Characters: Lyn, Coach, other students.

Coach: "Lyn, what have you been doing?"

Lyn: "Well I have been practicing the 55 hurdles."

Coach: "How would you feel trying the 200 hurdles?"

Lyn: "Mmmm... well I am used to this and I don't think I would do very good at the 200 hurdles," Coach smiles "Wait. Are you putting me in for the meet tomorrow?"

Coach: "Maybe."

Lyn: "Oh no. Um... can I at least try it first so I wont mess up very bad?"

Coach: "Sure I will get some other girls to do it with you." Walks away.

Lyn: (thinking)- Oh no, oh no, oh no. Walks over to set up hurdles.

* * *
Coach: "On your mark, get set...... go!"

Lyn runs and gets over first hurdle.

Lyn: (thinking)- This isn't so hard.

Lyn stutters before all the other ones and runs around them. Then walks back over to Coach.

Lyn: "I might want to try that again. Heh heh."

Coach: "Yeah, this time just jump over them. But rest up a bit first.... ok ready?"

Lyn: "Yup."

Coach: "On your mark, get set.... go!"

Lyn runs and makes it over first and second hurdles. Third one she is tired and does not bring up her trailing foot enough. It hits the hurdles.

Lyn: (thinking)- Aw crap. Not again. Then falls and slides. Get back up!! Show 'em who's boss! You can check out the damage later. Gets up and does victory motion and keeps running. Barely getting over the last two hurdles.

Lyn: (thinking)- Ok don't cry. Your in front of people.

Coach: "Are you ok?"

Lyn noddes looking at leg. The side is all scraped up. Nice 'strawberries'. Shoulder, exact as last time. Hands, same... no blood. Coach walks over and hugs Lyn.

Coach: "Ok. You don't have to do the 200."

Practice

Scene: Track Field. Monday. April 21st, 2009. Rainyish day, slippery track. 4:45...most kids have gone home... high-schoolers milling around.

Characters: Lyn (this is just a made up character, not me) innocent by-standers, sister

Lyn: (thinking)- hmmm look there is my sisters and some other cool high-schoolers. I should do hurdles to show them I do actually do something in track and I am good at it... well kinda.

(kneels down and sets herself dramatically, acting as if she has done this a hundred times.)

Lyn: (still thinking)- ready, set, go!

(starts sprinting towards the first hurdle, going faster than usual to impress sister and high-schoolers)

Lyn: "ungh!"

(jumps too early, barley making it over with 1st foot, back foot hitting the hurdle and making her go down. Doing a somersault mid-air, I might add.)

Lyn: (embarrassed)-"I jumped too early!"

Multiple High-Schoolers- "Are you okay?"

Sister- "And that's why I don't do hurdles!"

(wanting to cry from pain and embarrassment gets up and walks back to the starting line so to seem tough by doing it again and not giving up)

After two more times she goes to the locker room to check herself out. One bloody knee... not to bad, scraped up shoulder, bleeding hands/ elbows, hip bleeding. Oh yeah... it hurts.

Candle Sale

Yup... another post about my business.
I am officially starting to sell things Saturday May 2ond, 2009. Where? My house of course! All the candles I have made will be there (there will be more) It will be like a garage sale... but with candles instead of junk. The time will be about 10 am,I think, through 12am... or until I want to be done.
So yeah... that's pretty much it. :)

Were BA-ACK

Ok here are just a few interesting things that we saw or did on the trip...

On the way

• I made a GHIRADELLI raspberry chocolate last for 7 minuets.
• We talked about Love Languages, mine are Touch and Words of Affirmation.
• We saw a Semi on it side past the guardrails.
• We saw some cows grazing, then a few feet away was another cow with three little babies. They were doing this babysitting thing I heard about. One mom watches the kids while the others eat.
• When Mariah started driving the song that came on was Dangerous. "...that girl is so dangerous..."
• I saw a radar for the first time.
• We saw a big road sign... upsidown.
• At night the moon was right in front of us. It was a full moon and it was orangish silver. And HUMONGOUS!

While we were there (note: we had a lot of fun, but I didn't write EVERYTHING down)

• I ran two miles (non-stop) at a 9 minuet mile pace... farthest I have ever run... I think.
• Saw a ship that was in Pirates of the Caribbean 2.
• Saw a store called Soft As A Grape, and another called Giggle Moon, and another that we quoted the rest of the time Oh My Gauze!
• Went to a pier and saw some guy catch a stingray, then kick it back in, then saw dolphins! They were really, really close.
• We saw Adam and Katelyn Duckworth and had lots of fun. (Adam was the kids pastor at Crossroads, but then moved to Florida)
• Went on this boat ride and saw manatees and stingrays.
• Went on a boardwalk type thing and saw gators. 5 little ones and one humongous one.
• Saw a car wreck. The people were trying to avoid hitting a armadillo, but ended up hitting someone else, plus the armadillo.
• Saw cousin Kelly and Laney. :)
• Went to Downtown Disney!

On the way home

• Listened to the Wishes Cd.

We had a wonderful time!
